English exams begin on Thursday morning, with 123 written exams to be held during the HSC period that finishes on November 11.

More than 61,000 students across NSW will sit papers in English Standard and Advanced, English Studies and English as an Additional Language or Dialect from 9.50 this morning.

Education Minister Sarah Mitchell wished the 75,000 students sitting the final

year exams the best of luck, and said while it was natural for them to feel some

pressure, they needed to keep the HSC in perspective.

"Make sure that you take time throughout this exam period to look after

yourselves," Ms Mitchell told reporters in Sydney.

"Don't get too stressed out. Eat well, exercise, take some time out to do the

things that you enjoy and if you are worried about any particular issue reach

out for some support from your friends, your families or your teachers

Exams finish on Monday 11 November with Design and Technology and Textiles and Design.
