Twenty-six people, including three children, have died of flu in Victoria during the current season, authorities say.

Cases of the flu were reported during 2019 summer months, reflecting an early start to the season and attributed to people travelling to the northern hemisphere where the flu was at its peak, by state Health Minister Jenny Mikakos.

So far Victoria has confirmed more than 10,600 flu cases.
