The woman in her 20s has stayed there on the Working Holiday program.

Her name was withheld.

She was arrested last Thursday on charges of attempting to receive a box of drug ingredients, according to the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It quoted her as saying that one of her acquaintances in South Korea sent the box.

The South Korean Embassy in Australia immediately contacted the local police and asked them to look into the case swiftly and fairly, said the ministry.

It added it will continue to provide all necessary consular services for her.
