South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill has accused Liberal leader Steven Marshall of going on the defensive in the last week of the state election campaign.
And Mr Weatherill believes his Labor Party is gathering momentum to retain government when South Australians go to the polls next Saturday.
The premier on Saturday announced Labor would pump $8 million into a planned $20m redevelopment of AFL club Port Adelaide's Alberton headquarters.
The Liberals want to scrap our Renewable Energy Target – sending us backwards.
The club is in Mr Weatherill's electorate and he used a football analogy to criticise Mr Marshall.
"It's extraordinary that the Liberal Party have said that there are going to be no additional announcements," Mr Weatherill told reporters.
"They have packed up their tent.
"It's three quarter-time and they have decided to play defensive.
"They think they might be a little bit ahead and they're going to hang on to their lead - we'll see how it goes.
"We are going to continue to be talking to the South Australian community."
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull joined Mr Marshall in Adelaide on Saturday and the state Liberal leader has also previously summoned ex-PM John Howard to campaign in the state.
"If you're not a strong leader you have got to surround yourself with those people," Mr Weatherill said.
"We are running a campaign which is about standing up for South Australia.
"Steven Marshall's construct in this campaign has been about a crisis in the state ... in a crisis, people turn to the strongest leader."
