A drive-by shooting outside a Melbourne nightclub has left one man dead and another fighting for life, with police searching for the killer.
Shots were fired from a passing SUV, hitting three security guards and a patron outside the popular Prahran nightclub Love Machine at 3.20am on Sunday.
Security guard Aaron Khalid Osmani, 37, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after the shooting but he later died.
The Narre Warren South man was described as a "kind, funny and easygoing guy" and an online fundraiser was launched to help pay for funeral costs.
"It's a great loss to anyone who has had a pleasure of knowing him," the page read.
Police believe a stolen Porsche used in the drive-by could be key to the investigation. The Porsche’s getaway driver almost crashed the car as they sped from the scene of the shooting and the vehicle was later found burnt out.
Police would leave no stone unturned in a bid to find those responsible, Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said.
"Three of the people struck were employees, security guards, and one person was a patron innocently waiting to get in," Insp Stamper told media at the scene.
It's believed one of the men has facial injuries.
The police confirmed on Sunday night others were also injured in the shooting including a 20-year-old woman who fell at the scene and hit her head on the ground.
A 26-year-old man took himself to hospital on Sunday afternoon with injuries stemming from the shooting, but they were not life threatening.
Police are yet to make any arrests over the incident and are urging anyone with footage to contact them.
