A global poll of 15,000 city dwellers has revealed Melbourne tops the pops for happiness levels.
The Time Out City Life Index, which analysed anonymous data across seven key categories, found 89 per cent of Melburnians reported feeling happy over the past 24 hours, the highest figure of the 32 cities surveyed.
The Victorian capital was also voted the fourth best city in the world, well ahead of Sydney which fell well down the list to No.28.
