The push for southeast Queensland to host the 2032 Olympics has received a boost with Scott Morrison's throwing his "very clear" support behind the bid.
The prime minister met with International Olympics Committee president Thomas Bach in Japan on the weekend, saying the government had committed to the Games financially.
"The prime minister made it very clear that he was enthused by what he heard at the meeting and that the federal government was ready to move forward," Australian Olympic Committee boss John Coates said.
