Officials in Turkey say at least 35 people have been killed following a gun attack in an Istanbul nightclub.
They say some 40 others have been wounded in the assault in the early hours of Sunday morning.
An attacker shot at police officers outside an Istanbul nightclub early on Sunday before entering and opening fire at random inside the building, where around 500-600 people were celebrating the New Year, broadcaster NTV said.
The attacker was reportedly wearing a Santa Claus costume.
Istanbul's governor Vasip Sahin says the attacker shot a police officer and a civilian as he entered the Reina nightclub before opening fire inside the building.
Mr Sahin described the incident as a "terror attack".
