The polls have officially opened and Northern Territory voters will have their say, in what has been widely predicted will be a landslide, cutting short the second-term aspirations of the Country Liberals government.
Almost 40 per cent of voters have already been pre-polled, including almost all remote Aboriginal communities, but about 84,000 enrolled others are yet to vote.
In the final week of the campaign Chief Minister Adam Giles maintained that only the CLP has a concrete plan to create 24,000 jobs and will be able to manage the economy in challenging conditions ahead.
Meanwhile Labor leader Michael Gunner appealed to voters on the importance of restoring trust and integrity to government after a chaotic four years plagued by - string of scandals.
If the CLP falls, the NT will follow the trends set in Queensland and Victoria for toppling first-term conservative governments.
