About 10 million Australians are expected to vote today while about 4.76 million votes have been cast at early-voting centres. AEC said around 700,000 voters cast a pre-vote on Friday, the final day of campaigning.
This compares to a total of 3.2 million pre-poll votes cast during the 2016 federal election.
AEC said a record 16.2 million people will attend more than 8,000 voting venues to vote for the 2019 federal election.
In addition, there have been 1.5 million postal vote applications, the AEC said.
