Queensland fires: Sunshine Coast residents out of home as threat continues

A destructive fire on Queensland's Sunshine Coast which forced thousands of residents from their homes has been downgraded overnight - ahead of more unfavourable weather forecasts.

Thousands of Sunshine Coast residents have spent a second night at evacuation centres or with friends and family after being forced from their homes by an intense bushfire.

The blaze at Peregian was downgraded overnight ahead of an unfavourable weather forecast expected to hit in the coming days.
