New Zealanders will be able to travel into the Queensland without having to quarantine from 1:00am Dec 12.

The easing of coronavirus travel rules occurred after the country recorded 28 days without a case of community transmission of COVID-19.

Premier Annastacia Palasczuk made the announcement on Twitter, saying "I was advised late last night by Dr Jeannette Young our Chief Health Officer that New Zealanders are welcome to come,"

She has told the ABC, her state is ready to welcome New Zealanders, and she hopes it'll inject money into the tourism sector.

She said "A lot of bookings, people from around the nation are thinking where should we go on our holidays and they are booking QLD.”

Others states are already open to New Zealand travellers including New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
