Men's cycling team pursuit

Jack Bobridge, Alex Edmonson, Michael Hepburn, and Sam Welford have claimed silver for Australia at the velodrome in the men's cycling team pursuit.

Great Britain, starring Bradley Wiggins, has claimed gold in the event for the third consecutive Olympics.

It's Wiggins' eighth Olympic medal- the most-ever by a British athlete. Another cyclist, Chris Hoy, previously held the record with seven.

Denmark are the bronze medalists.

In the women's team sprint, Anna Meares and Stephanie Morton were beaten to bronze by Germany by just 0.022 seconds.

Another rowing silver

After taking out silver in the men's quadruple sculls yesterday, Australia has won its second rowing medal of these games.

Will Lockwood, Josh Dunkley-Smith, Josh Booth, and Alexander Hill beat out all but Great Britain in the men's coxless four event. Italy claimed bronze.

More walking success

Race walking has emerged as a strength of Australian track and field.

Dane Bird-Smith has claimed Australia's sixth medal in walking in the past four Olympics with bronze in the men's 20 km walk.

His father, David Smith, walked for Australia at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics, and was so excited to see his son win a medal, he rushed to see him at the finish line and was detained by military police.

He was fined, and had to scramble to be released from custody before the medal presentation.

Bird-Smith beat out Brazilian Caro Bonfirm for third place by just five seconds.
