'Stay inside': NSW’s Southern Cross University in Lismore in lockdown

A NSW university has urged its students and staff to stay inside as it and a nearby school are locked down and police warn people to avoid the area.

Police say an 18-year-old man who was shot dead outside a home in Sydney was the victim of a targeted attack.

A university and high school are in emergency lockdown in northern NSW with authorities urging people to "stay inside".

The Southern Cross University has tweeted its Lismore campus is in "emergency lockdown" and that "police are currently on-site and all students and staff are advised to remain inside until given the all-clear".
