Prime Minister Scott Morrison insists his government's personal income tax plan will be presented to parliament in its entirety and won't be split.
Likely new Labor leader Anthony Albanese has only said he "will consider" supporting the entire tax plan.
"We are putting our entire tax plan to the parliament," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra on Sunday where he was announcing his new ministry after last weekend's federal election
"If the Labor party has learned nothing from this election, if their take out of this election is that they should be denying Australians their aspirations, well I think that is a sad indictment on the Labor Party."
He said the planned tax cuts are good measures for the economy, jobs and confidence,
Labor previously indicated support for only the first part of the plan geared toward low and middle-income earners, but not the government's aim to flatten the tax structure in 2022 and 2024 under the second and third stages of its plan.
Senior federal government minister Simon Birmingham said the tax legislation would be brought forward to the new parliament at the first opportunity after the writs are returned.
He defended the later tax cuts, even though they wouldn't come in until after the next federal election.
"All too often I hear from the Australian people grumbles that governments don't look far enough into the future, that all we do is think about a year or two ahead or about the next election," Senator Birmingham told Sky News.
"It is one of the critical things to give long term certainty to Australian consumers and Australian businesses."
