A 16-year-old boy has been charged over a bushfire that destroyed at least one home and damaged other properties in Sydney's west.

The boy's arrest at Penrith Railway Station in the early hours of Saturday followed the arrests on Friday of a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy over the same fire.

They were later released without charge, pending further inquiries.

The fire began in the Llandilo area on Friday afternoon and spread over 300 hectares, destroying at least one home, significantly damaging others and causing evacuations from schools and nursing homes before it was contained.

Stock losses are yet to be calculated.

The 16-year-old boy arrested at Penrith has been charged with intentionally causing a fire and being reckless as to its spread.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear in a children's court on December 1.
