Julie Bishop, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Scott Morrison, Treasurer welcomed the nomination of Jim Yong Kim for a second term as President of the World Bank Group.

Press Release from the Treasury mentioned that Australia supports an open, transparent and merit-based selection process for the position of President of the World Bank and they look forward to the successful completion of this selection process.

“The World Bank is Australia’s largest multilateral partner,” Julie Bishop said. “We look forward to continued collaboration to promote growth and sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific region.”

“Australia has a deep partnership with the World Bank, particularly on development issues in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. I look forward to attending the World Bank Annual meetings in Washington early next month.” Scott Morrison said.
