Toddler dies after dog attack in Victoria

A 14-month-old girl has died after being mauled by a dog at a farm in the Gippsland region of Victoria.

A 14-month-old girl has died after attacked by a dog in country Victoria.

It's believed the dog was a German Wirehaired Pointer and bit the little girl on the face.

Police said the dog has now been seized by the local council.
The incident occurred at Neerim Junction, east of Melbourne, shortly about 6.20am on Thursday.

Police said the girl died at the scene despite treatment by paramedics.

“Mum tried to intervene and couldn’t do anything,” a reporter told radio host Neil Mitchell from the scene.
