Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is being briefed on the nation's economic, national and international position as he prepares for a new term in office.
Mr Turnbull claimed victory yesterday (sun) after Mr Shorten rang to congratulate him .
The Coalition has 74 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives and Labor 66 seats, with five seats still too close to call eight days after polls closed.
Mr Turnbull is likely to be sworn in next week after the Governor General returns from an overseas trip.
He will also have to replace at least three junior ministers who have lost their seats, with pressure mounting to promote rising stars, women and reward a stronger Nationals vote.
