Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has declined to comment directly over reports that counter-terrorism police are investigating whether millions of dollars in childcare subsidies and rebates have been rorted and sent offshore.
Two men have been charged with fraud and another two have been questioned in a Australian Federal Police investigation.
ABC 7.30 reported on Friday that the AFP this week raided day care businesses based in Lakemba in Sydney that belong to brothers Mohammad and Ibrahim Omar over whether $27 million in Commonwealth childcare benefits and rebates had been rorted and sent offshore.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told reporters in Perth on Friday: "Wherever we find evidence of terrorist activities, it will be disrupted, the people concerned will be brought to account."
