Australia's unemployment rate fell to 5.6 per cent in August, which beat market expectations.
The total number of people with jobs fell by 3,900 in the month, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday, with the market expecting a rise of 15,000.
Full-time employment rose by 11,500 jobs, while the number of part-time jobs was down by 15,400.
The participation rate, which refers to the number of people either employed or actively looking for work, was down at 64.7 per cent, from 64.9 per cent.
