Refugee advocates will hold a vigil outside Federal Immigration Minister Peter Dutton's office for an asylum seeker who died in Brisbane on Christmas Eve.

Faysal Ishak Ahmed, 27, died at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Saturday after being airlifted from Manus Island in Papua New Guinea the day before.

The vigil will be held on Thursday outside Mr Dutton's electorate office in Strathpine, north of Brisbane.

Refugee advocates have been in contact with Mr Ahmed's family, who have spent three days mourning his death in Sudan.

Fellow detainees have claimed he suffered seizures, heart problems and headaches for weeks but was not treated by the centre's medical staff.

The Department of Immigration has said Mr Ahmed died from injuries suffered after a fall and suffering a seizure.

"The department is not aware of any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and expresses its sympathies to his family and friends," it said in a statement.
