Virgin Australia reportedly set to file for administration after request for $1.4 billion lifeline rebuffed

Big four accounting firm Deloitte has reportedly been appointed as administrator for the struggling airline.

Virgin Australia, the country's second-largest airline, will reportedly file for voluntary administration after the federal government rebuffed the airline's request for a $1.4 billion loan to stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic.

An airline spokesperson wouldn't comment on Monday evening about the reports, which were published by a number of Australian media outlets.
