New South Wales Transport Minister Andrew Constance says he is worried about potential disruptions to the Sydney train network on Monday when more people return to work.
A review on how the train network can best respond to major incidents is due in fortnight, after commuters stranded on platforms across the city on Monday and Tuesday.
The New South Wales government has blamed storm damage to the infrastructure and an unexpected jump in the number of people on sick leave and annual leave.
Mr Constance has told Radio 2GB, the government is working to repair the damage to the service's reputation.
"Absolutely, it is terrible for the reputation of government, but also terrible for the reputation of the service. These are services which people are typically looking to catch. We had an 11 per cent growth in 12 months, as I just said. The ability for recovery seems to be the key challenge.
