The king is dead, long live the king. Or at least that's the feeling the football world shared when Kylian Mbappe’s France took on Lionel Messi’s Argentina and conquered emphatically here in Russia.

The FIFA World Cup lost its headline acts as the game's two biggest stars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, readied to leave Russia after their teams were eliminated in the round of 16.

In addition, Spain fell victim to the curse of the favourites at the 2018 FIFA World Cup when they were knocked out by hosts Russia, who produced one of the biggest shocks in the tournament's history. Russia midfielder Aleksandr Erokhin made FIFA World Cup history when he became the first player to enter the pitch as the fourth substitute in extra-time during the round of 16 clash against Spain.

SBS Korean program's Russia World Cup panel in Sydney, Jun Lee and Bryant Yoon shares their opinion of the round 16 matches.
