Japan upset 10-man Colombia 2-1 in a dramatic match on Tuesday to become the first Asian side to beat South American opponents at the World Cup.

While Korea was suffering bitter disappointment from the utter defeat against Sweden on Monday, its lifelong rival Japan makes a history win for Asia by defeating Colombia 2-1 on June 19, 2018. Japan becomes the first Asian side to beat a South American one at the World Cup.

Colombia midfielder Carlos Sanchez was sent off for a deliberate handball just minutes into Colombia's World Cup clash with Japan. The Blue Samurai sank 10-man Colombia with their superior number as well as dominating play.

The Japan’s surprising win gives a lot of things for Korean soccer fans to think of.

SBS Korean program's Russia World Cup panel in Sydney, Jun Lee and Bryant Yoon analyses the Japan v Colombia match as well as another surprising win today; Russia defeat Mohamed Salah’s Egypt 3 -1.  The World Cup host Russia virtually booked their place in the second round.
