USA-base animal rights group sent 46 dogs they rescued from Korean dog farms where they were to be slaughtered for human consumption, to USA to find new homes.

The news.com.au reported about 46 dogs from Korea arrived at Kennedy International Airport in USA to find a new life.

The population consuming dog meats have been plummeting in South Korea but still more than two million dogs are slaughtered for human consumption each year.

The Washington-based animal advocate group Humane Society International has been rescued more than 800 dogs in Korea since 2015,

The group which relies on private donations, directly contact famers and ask closing down the farm by providing financial support.

The 46 dogs rescued from dog farms in terrible environment with little light, food and space sent to emergency shelters in the United States of America by flight because in general, they are not wanted in Korea.

The dogs rescued included both mixed breed dogs and purebred ones - from a Chihuahua and a Maltese to various spaniels and a Saint Bernard.

It is known that some had been abandoned pets, and others were raised to be sold as pets but given to the meat industry if that failed.

The Humane Society International is aiming to demolish dog meat businesses.
