More electric cars will be introduced in the Australian car market

Although state governments have tried to vitalize the Australian electric vehicle market with some projects since 2010, it has been hard to find electric vehicles on the roads in Australia.

The lack of take-up is not due to a lack of consumer interest, but issues surrounding price, range and infrastructure.

However, electric car maker Tesla has changed the market. It rolled out a vehicle that can travel 350km on one charge. It was an improvement in the battery technology for electric cars, but the biggest barrier to buying an electric car is still the high price.

In 2019, a more affordable set of options is around the corner as five new electric vehicles - Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Kona electric, Kia Niro EV, Tesla model 3 and Audi e-tron - are expected to launch in Australia.
