Ahn Cheol-soo, former presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Party, apologized for the tip-off scandal fabricated smear campaign against President Moon Jae-in.
He broke a long silence and stated his position on the scandal.
(Fabricating information) cannot be countenanced under any circumstance. I was shocked when I was first informed, and feel responsible as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Party, Ahn said.
Korean political commentator JS Suh said although Ahn expressed his will holding accountable for the scandal as formal presidential candidate representing the party with a quite strong tone, the timing was way too late to gain public sympathy.
JS Suh also analyses USs request to rethink Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.
