The Australia Korea Young Professionals Association(AKYPA) launched its Victorian Chapter on October 5 in partnership with Trade Victoria under the Victorian Government’s Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, and ANZ.

With two-way trade exceeding $34 billion in 2015-16, South Korea is Australia’s fourth largest trading partner in goods and services. AKYPA seeks to bolster the Australia-Korea bilateral relationship by targeting the growing market opportunities in the trade corridor.

ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott says “South Korea is an important market for Australia’s financial sector and particularly when engaging with Asia.”

AKYPA connects future business leaders enabling them to harness greater interaction and cooperation through increased trade, cultural and knowledge exchange. The organisation supports young professionals wanting to engage in the Australia-Korea relationship by strengthening economic ties and contributing to increased investment and trade.

AKYPA’s Victorian Chapter President, Liz Johnston says “AKYPA will be the first youth professional association to provide a platform for future business leaders from Australia and Korea to connect, network and discover professional opportunities that promote Australia-Korea relations.”
