Each year the AKBC and the KABC have a Joint Meeting to discuss business opportunities between the two countries and this year the Joint Meeting will be held in Seoul on October 17 and 18.


Interview with Liz Johnston, executive Director of the Australia-Korea Business Council

Liz has spent approximately two and a half years working and studying in Korea. She worked at POSCO in investor relations, and has also studied at some of Koreas top Universities including Seoul National University (as part of a Hamer Scholarship) and Yonsei University. Now she is working for Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) as an executive Director.

The Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) exists on behalf of its members and seeks to foster friendship and understanding between the business communities of Australia and Korea and to promote technical and economic cooperation, trade investment, education and tourism between the two countries. AKBC works closely with the Korea-Australia Business Council (KABC). The AKBC is chaired by the Hon Mark Vaile AO, former deputy Prime Minister of Australia and The KABC is chaired by Mr Kwon, Chairman of POSCO.

On this years joint meeting between AKBC and KABC, they will discuss the KAFTA and education opportunities, financial services topics, investment opportunities into Australia, Renewable energy and also lifestyle (the Korean wave and smart cities).
