Australia is in desperate need of more hotels and other infrastructure to accommodate an expected spike in the number of Chinese tourists coming to the country.

Australia China Business Council expects the number of visitors from China to double within eight years.

Australia currently welcomes more-than-a-million Chinese tourists every year.

They're known for being big spenders - the most recent annual figure is more than nine-billion-dollars.

The projected increase is being attributed in large part to an agreement allowing more Chinese airlines to fly direct to Australian tourist destinations.
