Australia's unemployment rate rises to 6.9 per cent in Sep

The September figure marks a slight increase compared to August's jobless rate of 6.8 per cent.


Almost 30,00 jobs were lost across the country last month and underemployment increased to 11.4 per cent.

Minister for Employment Michaelia Cash says the figures show a net increase in employment nationally but Victoria's has suffered big losses.
