Working holiday makers from Korea and Taiwan are increasingly choosing regional Victoria as their home, prompting locals to reach out to their new neighbours.

Warrnambool with a population of 34,000 has traditionally been a so-called white community.

As the number of Asian backpackers staying in the city has increased to several hundred, more people have started paying attention to them and their needs.

Some locals have been providing various support including free English classes and the city council is organising a special event for them.

This is the second part of the two-part series Backpackers Who are Changing a City and we will be looking at different efforts made by various people and groups to help temporary foreign visitors including backpackers.
