A first-half Tim Cahill brace and three assists from Robbie Kruse paved the way for Australia to make light work of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Jordan, as they cruised to a 5-1 win at Allianz Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Socceroos proved far too good for Harry Redknapp's side throughout the contest, which decided the winner of Group B in the AFC second round of qualification for Russia 2018.
Cahill got things going in the 24th minute after a perfect cross from Kruse gave Australia's all-time leading goalscorer a simple tap in.
Kruse was again heavily involved as the Socceroos doubled their lead 25 minutes later, as he found Aaron Mooy in space and the Melbourne City star made no mistake with a delightful left-footed finish past Jordan goalkeeper Amer Sabbah.
But Australia weren't finished there and in the 44th minute, Cahill headed home another sublime Kruse cross to take the hosts out to an unassailable lead and round out a commanding first-half performance.
Tom Rogic added a fourth goal eight minutes after the break, to add to his double in last Thursday's 7-0 rout of Tajikistan, before Massimo Luongo iced the win in the 70th minute.
Jordan hit back with a consolation goal in the final minute through Abdallah Deeb, but ultimately it was Australia's night.
Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou said he was pleased with the result and thrilled to see Kruse showing signs of returning to his best.
"It was good, full credit to the boys. It's been two strong performances and I think people are starting to appreciate the way they play their football," Postecoglou said.
"[Jordan] are a dangerous opponent who had everything to play for."
"I was super rapt for [Kruse]. He looked really sharp and, hopefully, this means that he's back to his best. It looks like he will be."
