Liam Amos Richard Kerindun(20) was only 18 years old when he raped and assaulted a Korean woman on a working holiday visa in mid-July 2016.
He was young but he was old enough to know about the consequence of his irresponsible behaviour because the man with a criminal record committed the offences just six days after being released from prison on parole.
The court heard Kerindun attacked a 21-year old Korean woman on a working holiday visa when she was returning home about 12:10am.
He pulled her into a bush behind train track then raped and physically assaulted her for about two hours. The woman on enormous pain eventually faked the death and she managed to escape.
Kerindun then searched a second victim and 28-year-old Japanese national riding her bicycle home became his target. He pulled her to the ground and started to choke her and it is believed that she lost her consciousness many times.
Kerindun tried to undress the woman but it was not successful as she screamed out for help to people passing by.
Those who heard her voice reported to police and Kerindun fled on a bike was arrested about 2:30am.
Kerindun denied the offence but his watch and DNA sample was founded at the crime scene.
Judge Dean Morzone said Kerindun’s offending “constituted the most vile conduct and profound disrespect of those women “and handed down 11 years in jail to him.
Kerindun is not allowed to be on parole until he serve 80 per cent of the prison sentence.
