Calls for better understanding of energy market amid high consumer prices

As the Council of Australian Governments met to discuss reliable and affordable energy, a major charity has highlighted the difficulties Australians experience in trying to understand the market and its high power prices.

St Vincent De Paul has been following gas and electricity prices for more than a decade.

It has just released its annual report on the National Energy Market.

The report, by St Vincent De Paul Society, is urging the Commonwealth and states to work together to make further development of the National Energy Guarantee - the government's plan to deliver an affordable and reliable energy system that will also help meet Australia's international commitments.
