What leaders Scott Morrison and Bill Shorten and their teams are up to in the federal election campaign.
FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN: DAY 33
--
WHERE THE LEADERS ARE CAMPAIGNING
* Prime Minister Scott Morrison: is starting in Sydney
* Labor leader Bill Shorten: is starting in Sydney
WHAT THE COALITION WANTS TO TALK ABOUT
Its new plan to help first home buyers into the property market through a new home deposit scheme. And how Labor cannot be trusted to manage the economy.
* Housing remains a focus on Monday. The government wants to tout its new plan to help first home buyers be able to get into the real estate market. Their advantage on that policy was quickly neutralised when Labor said they'd match it. Meanwhile, CoreLogic will release results for housing auctions over the past week.
WHAT LABOR WANTS TO TALK ABOUT:
How the coalition government can't be trusted with providing services, bringing up the memory of the 2014 budget which cut funds for schools, hospitals and pensions.
* "Scott Morrison is just Tony Abbott in a baseball cap. He cuts schools and hospitals just like Abbott did." - Labor finance spokesman Jim Chalmers
THE LATEST POLLS
* The latest Newspoll has Bill Shorten on track to win this weekend. Labor still leads by 51 to 49 per cent on a two-party preferred basis, with its primary vote also up slightly to 37 per cent. The coalition's primary is up to 39 per cent. And just seven points now separate Mr Shorten and Scott Morrison in the preferred prime minister's stakes.
