The Sydney Morning Herald introduced the Korean/German marque index.
It compared sales of Korea's Hyundai and Kia cars against the German brands including Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche.
It is found out that in the first eight months in 2017, Australians purchased 1.72 Korean vehicles for every vehicle carrying a luxury German brand.
While Victorians are the most likely to have the German brand, Queenslanders prefer to drive value with Korean cars.
The Sydney Morning Herald believes that the two Korean brands, Hyundae and Kia have been around long enough in the Australian market to build customer trust and their combine sale has been increasing. Hyundai car sales are down by 4.9 per cent to 65,120 but Kia shows dramatic growth this year with sales up 31 per cent to 37,508.
The SBS Korean program has more.
