La Mer et L'Île (The Sea and the Island) has wrapped its concert in Sydney with success, making the Korean Australian community resonate with music.

La Mer et L'Île concert in Sydney on 15 October sublimated the classic music into the beauty of Dokdo and the East Sea.

'La Mer' meaning the sea, refers to the East Sea, while 'L'Île' meaning the island refers to Dokdo Island.

Together with the musicians, artists, writers and dancers registered with the organization, they are bringing people′s attention to the issues related to the naming of the East Sea and Korea′s sovereignty over Dokdo.

La Mer et L'Île began its overseas concert tours in 2016 from Singapore to Sydney and to Hong Kong.

In Sydney, they performed Fantasy - Variations on an Olden Air Dream of the Sea of Korea by Quentin Kim, Morning of the Ocean for Violin, Haegum and Violoncello by Jonghee Kang, and Dokdo, Two Ears for Mezzo Soprano and String Quartet composed by Myung - Whun Choi. In addition, Nessun Dorma from opera Turandot by Puccini, Habanera from opera Carmen by Bizet, and Piano Quintet in A Major by A. Dvorak.

SBS Korean Program has met Hamjoon Lee, the President of La Mer et L'Île, Music director Yeon Woo Choi and the ensemble members.
