Education Minister Dan Tehan is threatening university cheats with jail time or up to $210,000 in fines.


Research shows a global increase in students using contract cheating services in recent years and some students pay hundreds of dollars to have ghostwriters complete their assignments.

 

The Government has proposed legislation making it an offence to provide or advertise so-called "contract cheating" services.

 

Cheats who take exams or write essays on behalf of university students could be jailed for two years if the Morrison government wins the next election.

Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan is also threatening university cheats with fines of up to $210,000.
