Controversy surrounding UTS lowering entry standard for women

University of Technology Sydney makes 10 point ATAR score adjustment for female students who apply for engineering related degrees from next academic year.

According to UTS, it is believed that this implementation is to increase the low enrollment of women in engineering fields towards hopefully 20%.

However, there are also negative opinions regarding the policy that the underlying idea assumes women underperform against men in studying engineering.

It is also pointed out in social media that the male-dominant culture of engineering field should be improved first to encourage female students to study engineering.
