From next year, schools will be required to control the number of students from outside the catchment.


The NSW Department of Education recently announced that schools will not get extra demountable classrooms if they exceed their student capacity.

School principals will be provided a student population cap based on the number of permanent buildings at their schools.


It is believed that the change might help schools struggling to attract enrolment become genuine local schools, while the long term effectiveness of the crackdown is controversial.
