Elderly man with dementia found after he went to missing for a day

An elderly man suffering from dementia who seems to have a Korean background was found after he went to missing for more than 24 hours.


Herald Sun reports that Ferntree Gully man Kyu Lee, 77 has been found in a residential area after he went to missing for more than 24 hours.

Mr Lee was last seen when he left home for a walk with his white Pomeranian around 1pm on April 22, 2018.

After his missing was reported, staff at the 1000 Steps cafe told police an elderly Asian man with a white dog was seen and he was incoherent and speaking Korean.

Mr Lee was found around 1 km away from his home in Olivebank Grove after more than 50 police and SES volunteers searched the Dandenong Ranges.

Mr Lee's daughter Jennifer said as a result of his father’s health condition the family deeply concerned about the missing.

“He’s fit in a cardiovascular sense but we have concerns as he has Alzheimer’s.  she said.
