Help is on the way for dairy farmers after the government unveiled a $578 million financial assistance package over 10 years.
The federal government has announced a support package for dairy farmers.
The coalition government which is in caretaker mode ahead of the July 2 election consulted with the opposition in Canberra before making the announcement.
It follows cuts in prices by two major milk processors because of a global decline which have left many Victorian and Tasmanian farmers in debt.
