More students are expected to choose Korean in HSC as Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced in Seoul that every student in NSW will be able to study HSC Korean through virtual classrooms.
The Sydney morning herald reported NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian visit to South Korea last week.
Media in Korea reported that Premier has become the first Australian Premier to be awarded with an honorary citizenship of Seoul, South Korea.
Mayor of Seoul City, the Honourable Park Won-soon, presented Ms Berejiklian with the citizenship at the Seoul City Hall.
New South Wales has a special relationship with the country, as about 70 per cent of Koreans in Australia reside in our state. The Hon. Park said
During her stay in Seoul, the premier also visited Seoul National University Elementary School where she announced about virtual classroom which allows every student in NSW even in remote areas is able to learn HSC level Korean through online program.
The Seoul National University Elementary School is a sister school of Sydneys Chatswood Public School so the premier was able to speak students in Chatswood via an online video link.
The Chatswood students study Korean every day, and have been exchanging emails with the students in Seoul.
