According to an ImmDepartment report, there was also a 4.5 % fall in the number of working holiday visa holders to 137,380 and according to lobby group the National Farmers Federation (NFF), worker numbers have already declined by 7,000 this year from 40,000 three years ago.
ABC reported that on average Working holiday visa holders earn $13,300 a year, and are paid 9 per cent superannuation, which equates to $1,190.
The backpacker tax debate came as South Koreans were staying away due to a number of abuse stories, and diminishing support from the Korean Government, the lobby group the National Farmers Federation (NFF) said in ABC.
Joe Moro, the Mareeba Fruit and Vegetable Growers president, said Koreans numbers have dropped off, after they were treated badly by some contractors, and word spread quickly via social media.
