FCAI, Top 10 car brands in Australia during first half of 2018

The results released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), which found first half car sales as brands and models in Australia in 2018.

SUVs grabbed 42.7 per cent market share, stretching the lead over passenger cars (33.7 per cent). Utes and vans grabbed 20.3 per cent share.

During this period, Ford Australia sales of new motor vehicles fell 10.5% and Holden fell 22.6%. However, Honda’s sales rose 34.2% in same period and Mitsubishi rose 10.6% because of SUV lineup.

According to the FCAI data, Toyota Hilux takes gold medal in car sales model ranking before Ford Ranger. Small hatchback (Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30(+Elantra), Mazda 3) also have a good sales output during this period, like as previous periods.

Medium sports utility vehicles (SUV) is raising star of this data. Cause of growing demand, now 43% of car sales are coming from SUV categories, official data shows.

Also, Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, Nissan X-trail, Hyundai Tucson sales more than 10,000 cars in first half, 2018.
