The Senate has resumed debate on Government bills to restore a building-industry regulator, the Australian Building and Construction Commission, or A-B-C-C.
The Governor-General told a joint sitting of parliament's two chambers they would consider bills restoring the commission and placing tougher governance rules on trade unions.
Opening the special sitting of parliament, Sir Peter Cosgrove read out a speech by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
