‘Goo Woon Mong 2’ wraps up successful showcases

Korean Australian communitys key theatre company, EUs Goo Woon Mong 2 was successfully run from September 8 to 11 at Lennox Theatre in Sydney, making the audiences laughe and cry.


On September 8, EU Theatre and Productions had the opening night of the thrilling Korean murder mystery Goo Woon Mong 2.

In 1889, during the last period of the Kingdom of the Joseon, the Australian missionary, Mary and six other women come to town. Upon arriving at the house they are staying, they discover a dead body in a rice box. The women join forces to try and work out who the murderer is. Featuring suspicious characters, the women seek the help of a detective to try to get bottom of the case.

Audiences were totally immersed in the play, Goo Woon Mong 2 that was participated by many young Korean Australians including the director Hae Yeon Kang and reflects the Korean sentiment.

One of the Korean audiences, Gyeong-sil Han said I was so proud of the young Korean Australians performing in Australia.

The family of Kaylee Bell who played Mary, the Australian missionary in the play also said The play was fabulous and everyone did really well. Even though I dont speak Korean I could still follow the story.

Gi-woong Lee casted as Gi-nam in the play said The audiences were shy in the beginning of the play, but as it progresses, they responded to the play with laughter and tears.

Goo Woon Mong 2, the second series of Goo Woon Mong presented 2 years ago, successfully ended in success. Hopefully, the EU Theatre and Productions will continue to provide great entertainment and joy to all Korean community in Australia.
